Oh mummy dearest I sing to thee
A song for all you’ve been for me
The night, the dark, the gloom despair
I sat, I cried, I did not care
A sinner drowned in misery
Yet lovingly you gazed on me
A broken spirit
A lonesome heart
Deserted soul
Torn apart
Indignant prayers and tearful eyes
Compassionate Mother you heard my cries
My desperate cries of plea to thee
I pondered on thy mysteries
The sorrow of my Savior’s passion
Oh Mother, my soul ’twas so guilt-stricken
Still gentle Mother, you looked with kindness
Upon my soul so full of darkness
You held the stray, your daughter forsaken
And brought her joy, the long forgotten
The joy that only He can bring
My hurts, my pains, you took to Him
He healed me of my misery
And now with glee I sing to thee
